Texas University Named the Best Public University in the U.S.
Can you guess which university was named the Best Public University in the country? Hint: it’s a Hill Country gem!
Recently the publisher Niche released a list of the top public universities in the country, and the University of Texas – Austin claimed the No. 1 spot! As the list states, “the top ranked public colleges are elite academic institutions that provide a good value for in-state students and offer an exceptional college experience.” It sounds like they hit the nail right on the head by picking UT Austin!
So how were these rankings calculated? From the records of 1,713 public and private four-year colleges and universities in the country, the grading system took into account the “strength of the academic program, the aptitude of professors, the quality of campus amenities, the general character of student life, as well as student reviews…to measure the overall excellence of the college experience.”
UT Austin received only one B- value for Safety grade, which was no doubt caused by the recent tragedy from which campus is still reeling. Otherwise, it earned a solid A rating across the board. Academics, Student Life, Athletics Grade, Campus Quality, and Local Area Grade all earned A+ ratings.
We’re proud to call this public university our own, and whether or not you were a Longhorn, we can all agree that it’s a fantastic institution deserving of its reputation.
