Boasting 300 craft beers, Thistle Draftshop in Spring, Texas, features 60 on tap and the ability to help you expand the horizons of your barley-and-hops-loving taste buds. Not only that, they have a menu with which to pair your beer that will help satisfy your cravings on all levels. But let’s focus on the beer here.

In an interview with abc13.com, owner Mary Thorn said, “The concept was really simple. Just a bottle shop in a bar.” Thorn had previous experience in the industry as a former staff member at St. Arnold Brewing Company and chose to open Thistle Draftshop as a means of supporting similar small breweries in the craft beer market. “That was important, to make sure that we were in an area that made sense. Then it’s our job to educate the community beyond what they already know,” she told abc13.

The company’s mission is also shared on its website, along with the fact that they have a “great selection of wine, cider, mead, and beer to-go.” Likewise, Thistle Draftshop is working to “bring some of Houston’s downtown culture out to the suburbs,” and it’s becoming what Thorn has envisioned. The food pairings that are offered on their menu only serve to complement the featured product, with modern fare defined as being “as bold as it is delicate creating a symphony in your mouth with every bite.”

Featured on CraftBeer.com as well as in Voyage Houston, Thorn’s enterprise is taking the Texas craft beer scene by storm. “Brewers and breweries sharing information, supplies and attitudes to grow the Craft Beer Industry has now become a passion. It created such a thirst that it was an easy decision to make when the time came to do something different. Open a Craft Beer Bar and Bottleshop, why not,” Thorn told voyagehouston.com. Her passion has paid off in spades, with over 3K fans on Facebook and an even larger group following, and that’s not including the large group of regulars who populate the place. Thistle Draftshop in Spring is bringing beer to the masses in a great way, one draft at a time.
