On a Delta flight from Atlanta to Phoenix on Sunday, passengers, including football player Tim Tebow, came together to support a man who was experiencing a medical emergency. Flight 1772 was only equipped with six crew members who made the decision to declare a medical emergency when an older man began having heart problems and fell unconscious.

The crew took direction from a medical team on the ground, and passenger Richard V Gotti posted on Facebook that, “Strangers from all over the world and every ethnicity [came] to the help of this man for over an hour! Whether it was chest compressions, starting an IV, helping breathe life into this man, or praying everyone helped!” Even through the collective teamwork, the situation was dire.

Gotti and other passengers were surprised to see a recognizable face emerging from the first class cabin to support the man and wife in need and lead passengers in prayer – it was Tim Tebow. Lina Washington later reported on Twitter that he “transported the wife to the hospital upon arriving.”

The man’s pulse was finally regained when the plane landed. Sometimes a group of strangers can come together in a wonderful way and support one another, and Flight 1772 is proof of that phenomenon.
