For many of us who have lived in the Texas Hill Country, we love the mix between structures, contemporary and classic, to go along with the beauty of desert plant life peppered along with the oaks, pecans, junipers, and wildflowers that line the neighborhoods. It’s why we stick around.

When you combine that unique serenity with world-class universities and a never-ending tech boom, Austin and the Texas Hill Country are mightily desirable to newcomers and native Texans alike.

But the rest of the U.S. is starting to catch on.

Using variables such as walkability, access to public transit, to go along with affordability and charm, the real estate analysts at Redfin have named Austin’s Hyde Park neighborhood the fourth hottest neighborhood to be at in the country.

“Hyde Park is a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood with a mix of modern and classic craftsman homes that suit many types of buyers. It has always been a popular neighborhood, but it has become even more competitive over the last few years due to the revitalization of the surrounding area,” writes company reviewer Andrew Vallejo.

The report goes on to cite the redevelopment project of Highland Mall, soon to be an Austin Community College campus extension.

“As a result, new eateries, retail shops, bars and public spaces are cropping up in the area. Hyde Park residents are a short distance from the action, and still have the benefit of their subdued neighborhood to come home to.”

To purchase a home in Hyde Park, it’d set you back no small sum, however — the median price these days is $449,000, and 98.9 percent of them sell at the asking price.
