Driving around town in the 2021 Toyota Highlander XSE V6 AWD is a joyful experience, since this SUV is chock full of good things. Operating on a 3.5 liter V6 engine, the Highlander performs smoothly and with precision.

The Highlander features 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive with dynamic torque vectoring. Highland maintains a steady stance with its 20” wheels and sport-tuned suspension.

Safety and convenience features start with Toyota Safe3ty Sense 2.5+, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and numerous other helpful features. The Highlander’s full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control makes highway driving a breeze, while lane departure alert with steering assist and lane tracing assist are also helpful assistants.

Estimated fuel economy for the Highlander XSE V6 AWD is 20 mpg in town and 27 mpg on the highway, for an average of 23 mpg.

Automatic high beams, road sign assist, and blind-spot monitor with rear/cross-traffic alert are also featured. Star Safety System, push-button start, safety and remote connect and 3-door smart key are featured.

My test model of the Highlander looked radiant in Ruby Flare Pearl/Rioja Red with black accents. It boasted LED headlights and LED fog lights plus black roof rails. A sport mesh front grille gives a bold look to the front, and Highlander also features front and rear lower spoiler with twin-tip exhaust.

The MSRP for the 2021 Toyota Highlander AWD is $43,355. The manufacturer had added options such as illuminated door sills, universal tablet holder, and cargo cross bars. A premium audio system with JBL was also added. Along with destination charges, these features brought the price tag for the test vehicle to $47,701.
