It’s been a staple in many of your homes. On cool nights, on game day, on days when you just need some comfort and there’s nowhere to turn but a big pan of warm, gooey cheese! Last year the internet exploded from Pinterest posts on Texas Trash Dip. Many of our counterparts had never heard of such a conglomeration. The mix of cream cheese and sour cream alone is enough to make you come running, let alone the monumental mouthwatering ingredients that follow!

The name, however, leaves something to be desired, but, “…one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”! If you haven’t tried it yet (your secret is safe with us) or your friends are looking for a great go-to dish for your next girls getaway or you simply see yourself sitting on a couch with a season of “Say Yes to the Dress” and needing something to fill the chasm of feelings you’ll have…get on the Texas Trash Dip bandwagon.

Texas Trash Dip

One Woman's Trash Dip is Another Woman's Treasure

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 8-ounce package cream cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 16-ounce cans of refried beans
  • 1 7-ounce can chopped green chiles, drained
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • Sliced green onions and black olives for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Microwave your cream cheese and sour cream in a microwaveable bowl on high (only slightly covered to avoid a cheese-tastophre to clean up) for 1 minute, or until the cheese is softened. Remove the bowl from microwave and mix with a fork until smooth.

Add in your refried beans, seasoning mix, green chiles and the two cups of Monterey Jack cheese and mix well. Spread the bean mixture in a 13×9 baking dish wiped with butter or sprayed with no-stick cooking spray. Sprinkle the top with the two cups of Cheddar cheese. Bake the dip for 25 minutes (or until the cheese is nicely melted.) Garnish your Texas Trash Dip with chopped black olives and green onions. Serve with tortilla chips!
