Amazing New Treatment for Burns Uses Stem Cell Spray

Along with being physically and emotionally painful, burns on over 30 percent of the human body can also be deadly. “A second-degree burn traditionally has had to be washed twice a day and topical anti-microbial placed upon it — a very painful process for the patient, a very painful process for the person helping the patient to wash and apply those substances,” Dr. David N. Herndo of Shriners Hospitals for Children in Galveston told Click2Houston.com. But there’s a new method of healing on the horizon for burn victims – the RenovaCare SkinGun and CellMist.

According to RenovaCare’s website, their SkinGun uses a patient’s skin cells to make a personal ointment to spray onto the burn to help heal the wound throughout the core of the burned area, instead of waiting for it to heal up from the sides of the wound. It can be used within 90 minutes of being admitted to the ER, and it’s intended to replace “conventional skin graft surgery, which can be painful, prone to complications, and slow-to-heal.” The SkinGun’s spray is a very gentle alternative to traditional treatment.

While they’ve been awarded a U.S. patent on the SkinGun, RenovaCare’s system isn’t available in the United States yet, but it’s expected to be approved.
