Trout fishing on the Guadalupe River? That’s right! Most often, this fish can only be found in the northern parts of the United States, but every year Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) stocks Rainbow trout in various bodies of water around Texas. One of those those waterways is the Guadalupe River between Canyon Lake and New Braunfels. Free public access is available year round at Guadalupe Park. Access is also available at several leases contracted by TPWD from December 4, 2015 – May 4, 2016 at Whitewater Sports, Rio Guadalupe Resort, and Mountain breeze campground. Anglers can fish at these lease spots 30 minutes before dawn until 30 minutes after dusk.

Now, it is said that trout puts up a fight like no other fish. This YouTube video by Nick FlyFishing will show you just how fun trout fishing can be and the quality of the trout you can pull out of the Guadalupe. Watch this video, grab the kayak, and a good pole with some artificial lures for some fun and excitement on the Guadalupe River!
