A semi-trailer truck crash on Interstate 45 on June 29, saw authorities rounding up dozens of pigs over several hours, just south of Dallas. At approximately 6:45 a.m., the north and southbound lanes of the highway were closed between Pleasant Run Road and Belt Line Road in Wilmer. Carrying 195 pigs southbound, the truck crashed, flipping onto its side. According to Lt. Eric Pon of the Wilmer Police Department, the pigs were loose all over the highway.

The truck driver was apparently not injured in the crash, and although there has been no word as to whether the pigs were hurt, we’re sure they were a little “disgruntled.” Due to the high Texas temperatures, firefighters were on hand to spray water over the pigs in order to help keep them cool. Northbound lanes of Interstate 45 reopened at approximately 11:20 a.m., while southbound took a little bit longer, reopening at roughly 3:30 p.m. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the crash, giving these pigs (and driver) some justice, after police…saved their bacon.
