Texans Can Adopt a Dog from the TSA

San Antonio area residents (or those willing to drive there) who are looking for an adult pet pooch can adopt one from an unlikely organization – the TSA.

The Transportation Security Administration uses dogs to detect explosives, but many of those dogs reach retirement or never make the cut in the training program. These pups need forever homes to settle down in and let their working noses rest.

According to ABC 13, “German Short-Haired Pointers, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois” are available from ages 2 – 10 years. All of them have been spayed or neutered, but the pets might need some extra TLC at first “because they are usually housed in kennels and not in the warm and comfy residences they’ll end up residing.” Imagine how much they’ll love your cozy home once they settle in!

Email the TSA Adoption Coordinator at [email protected] if you want to care for one of these dogs. You will need to pick up the pooch in San Antonio. It might very well be the most pleasant interaction you ever have with TSA, and just imagine the look of confusion on people’s faces when you tell them where your dog came from!
