Could TSA Start Searching Travelers’ Cars Before Their Flight?

By  |

No one looks forward to standing in line, removing their shoes and anticipating a search during TSA’s airport checks, but now there is talk of increasing the number of checkpoints in United States airports.

The airport attacks that recently took place in Brussels and Istanbul both occurred before going through security checkpoints. This has made many people speculate that there will be some sort of search before reaching the usual and expected security line. Suggestions include searching cars and people before they can enter the building.

Adding these checkpoints would be costly when it comes to both money and time. Installing the technology and employing more workers would be very expensive for airports. Many commercial airline customers would see huge delays that would result in missed flights.

As seen on CBS DFW news, aviation security expert Denny Kelly isn’t keen on the idea. He stated, “It’s not gonna work because if someone is willing to give up their life, you’re not gonna stop them by putting a mirror under their car.”

He told viewers to put their worries to rest about the additional security as he doesn’t anticipate any of the car or pre-building checkpoints to become a reality.
