Austin has the whole “Keep Austin Weird” thing going on, making it appear that there’s never a dull moment throughout the city. From full-on odd, to rare, to things that downright make you do a double-take, the capital of Texas always leaves you guessing. One place, in particular, has the market cornered on “unique” and if you happen to be on Congress Ave, Uncommon Objects is the business that makes everything uncommon its business. One look at their sign and you’ll know exactly what we mean.

From rare collectibles to random oddities, this is truly a shop of curiosities and things that are uniquely Texas. There are many old-fashioned bric-a-brac and a medley of knick-knacks to grab your attention. Every room in the store has a different color scheme, which makes it easier for shoppers trying to find something in a specific shade.

Technology of all sorts abound, such as an entire wall of cameras, old typewriters, and random objects may have been considered quite ahead of their time at one point, but are now here in the Uncommon Objects store where they don’t actually seem uncommon or odd at all actually. They fit right in.

Antique enthusiasts love coming to this store in hopes of finding something amongst its “Where’s Waldo”-esque-type atmosphere. But if you have time to explore the rare and strange rigmarole and paraphernalia, you just might find a real Texas Hill Country gem at Uncommon Objects.
