TripAdvisor, the go-to website for those who are looking for reviews on hotels and attractions around the world, recently ranked Waco in the number two spot on the list “TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice awards for Destinations on the Rise” for 2018. According to KXXV, “Waco was ranked for major attractions such as the Dr. Pepper Museum, the Waco Mammoth National Monument, the Brazos River, Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum and prominence of HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines.”

According to the Waco Heart of Texas website, Waco is full of additional interesting places that didn’t even make KXXV’s or TripAdvisor’s list. For visitors who like seeking out unusual attractions, there’s the Institute for Oral History located at Baylor that holds recorded interviews with fascinating people telling their stories since the 1970s. There’s also Show and Tell Antiques, a three-story antique store in an amazing old home once owned by drink chemist Robert S. Lazenby who worked for Dr. Pepper.

On the TripAdvisor list, Waco was beaten out by the number one choice, Kapaa, Hawaii, and followed by Wilmington, North Carolina (3), Bend, Oregon (4), and Boulder, Colorado (5).
