Why You Should Wear Freshly Washed PJs (Almost) Every Night

Mother Nature Company reported findings from research conducted mattress company Ergoflex concerning how often people change their pajamas. They found that on average, men changes their PJs every 13 days while women wait 17 to pick a new pair!

Besides running the risk of becoming a bit odorous, waiting so long to change your pajamas can lead to health problems. “Quite a lot of us carry staphylococcus bacteria, which can cause infections if they get into cuts and bruises. We all carry E. Coli bacteria. Most strains aren’t harmful, but if they get into the urinary tract they can cause infection,” Good Housekeeping quotes Professor Sally Bloomfield of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

LittleThings.com adds that continuously wearing the same fabrics and sleeping in the same sheets can lead to an increase of pimples and cysts. Skin oil, cells, and bacteria will sit on the fabric and come in contact with your face and any other areas you have issues with acne and cause infected and clogged pores. Plus, dust mites love to eat dead skin, so you’ll want to keep them away as well.

While you may not need to change your PJs every single day, be mindful of how freshly washed they’re feeling (and smelling)!
