And what about bluebonnets and rattlesnakes? Texas is the largest of the contiguous 48 states, and there are rattlesnakes of various kinds from one end to the other. They may not really have an affinity for bluebonnets, but they are out there, and you don’t want to surprise one. If you walk through tall grass or flowers slowly, for the most part, snakes will get out of your way. And watch where you put your feet. Then, get down on your hands and knees, smell the bluebonnet blossoms, and thank God you’re a Texan.
