Woman Reunited With Her Pet Tortoise Who Traveled Over 6 Miles

In a sweet and rather impressive true story, a woman was reunited with her 100 year old tortoise named Touche who walked the length of 11 football fields.

Nancy Knauss has owned Touche for 55 years. One day, her gate was left open by landscapers, and the tortoise decided to explore. Of course, Knauss felt worried and lost without her old companion. She posted flyers all over the neighborhood and online, hopeful that she could find her shelled pal.

Ten days later, Touche was spotted by Steven George 6.5 miles away from Touche’s home! Knauss recognizes that it’s an incredible length for a creature to stray from home and then be discovered safe and sound by someone who cared to reach out. “Yes, there’s a lot of bad in our world right now, but there are a lot of very really good people that care, too,” Knauss told the CBS Los Angeles.

Touche had quite the journey. She even pursued what she thought to be another tortoise. George found Touche while she was “romantically” expressing interest in a storm drain that looked like a big turtle shell!

Knauss doesn’t mind at all what Touche was up to while she was gone. She’s just thrilled that her friend is back at home where she belongs.
