The world’s largest cedar rocking chair, The Star of Texas Rocking Chair, is located on Highway 281, just outside of Lipan, Texas. It was built by Texas Hill Country Furniture and Mercantile and received the impressive honor of holding the world record back in 2003…and it still stands today.

The Star of Texas Rocking Chair stands 25 feet, 10.5 inches tall and measures 12 feet, 7.37 inches wide. It also weighs 5,672 pounds! It highlights the furniture store (where the majority of items, similar to this chair, are handcrafted.) The mercantile building alone was made of trees from the area, harvested, and milled locally.

Next door to this enormous seat sits the Natty Flat Smokehouse. They serve some great barbecue, all the traditional sides, and sell meat and cheese by the pound in the store front. Their store also holds all sorts of surprises, like homemade jerky, salsa, sauces and jams, cookbooks, and souvenirs.

And of course, you can’t forget the furniture store. They take their cues from a stance that’s “uniquely Texas.” Many of their products are hand-made originals, and the home accessories, including place settings, décor items, crafts, and candles, are one-of-a-kind. Their furnishings have that “Texas Hill Country look,” and it all starts with a 25 foot Star of Texas rocking chair!
