The Cibolo Nature Center & Farm is situated on a portion of land that once comprised the 1852 Herff Ranch, established by Dr. Ferdinand Herff. It was developed from a concept by locals in 1988, of protecting a part of the Cibolo Creek, including the land around it, as a wildlife preserve for families to come and appreciate nature. It now has four unique ecosystems, trails, education and research centered around nature, as well as outdoor activities for the more than 100,000 visitors it receives each year!

3. It’s Home to the Oldest Continuously Organized German Band in the World (Outside of Germany Itself).

Organized by Karl Dienger in 1860, the Boerne Village Band was developed to complement the singing festivals of the area with band music. Throughout the US Civil War as well as World Wars I and II, the band continued to practice and stay active – a feat in those times considered quite difficult. Staying organized for more than 150 (and looking ahead to 160), the band continues regular practices and performs its traditional German music at festivals, fairs, and other events of the like!
