A favorite summer pastime in the Hill Country and beyond is Schlitterbahn. Crowds gather in anticipation for the “hottest, coolest, times in Texas.” A Texas version of a summer getaway for some fun in the sun is among one of the busiest waterparks. “Schlitterbahn created the world’s first water resort and currently has five parks in Texas and Kansas,” shares its Facebook page. All the fun you would expect in a first class resort with endless activities and a splashing good time as you slip and slide and tube all across the park.

The only ice cream you grew up with was Blue Bell. A true blue as American as apple pie favorite in these parts! Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cookies and cream, the list is endless among the choices of ice cream this quaint little creamery in Brenham, TX is known for. On a hot summer day and at every party and celebration there is sure to be a tub of that all time favorite ice cream to be found. Even through the recent recalls, we stand by our brand and continue to enjoy the creamy 1/2 gallon Texas favorite.
5. You judge a restaurant by its chips and salsa.

You literally grew up in the Hill Country and around if you judge the quality of a Mexican restaurant by its chips and salsa or queso. The trademark of a good Mexican cuisine is its chips and the salsa, queso, or guacamole they serve. The chips have to be of the freshest quality and not easily break. The salsa can’t be runny and needs a good texture with a little kick to it. The guacamole has to be of the freshest quality with good chunks of fresh pico mixed in. Last but not least the queso has to be flavorful and full of spices that make your mouth water.
