With a theme of “For the Love of Texas,” Fiesta San Antonio has named country star Pat Green as the grand marshal for its 128th Battle of Flowers Parade. Organizers made the announcement on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, noting that he will be “bringing the Texas party to the streets of San Antonio.”
Pat Green was born in San Antonio and has made his mark on the Hill Country, the state, and the nation as a country music recording artist. He has seven studio albums under his belt and 15 singles that made the Billboard charts. He started out playing clubs and small gigs in ’95 and caught the attention of such notables as Willie Nelson, who scheduled the singer for his ’98 Fourth of July Picnic. Since then, Green has been a Texas country mainstay.
The Battle of Flowers is known as the founding event of Fiesta. It started in 1891 when a small group of women, dedicated and passionate about honoring those who fought for our state’s independence, chose to do so with a patriotic parade. This year’s event will follow the same course it has in prior years with only a slight diversion due to ongoing construction. The parade route is available at the link provided here by the Battle of Flowers Association.
