Alice Littlefield Haunts the University of Texas in Austin

By  |

Many students have claimed to hear Alice playing the piano from an upstairs bedroom of her mansion. Other sources have claimed to see her face peering through different windows, sometimes she looks in and others times she’s looking out.

Inside the mansion and the Littlefield Dormitory, students claim to feel a ghostly presence walking throughout the halls on a daily basis. As people get close they feel cold and feel odd, and seem to recognize Alice is nearby. No one seems to be afraid of her, other than the newbies, but they soon learn to accept that Alice isn’t going anywhere. Maybe on your next trip to Austin you should stop by and tell her hello.

Even though it may be a bit unsettling to some, nearly all of the students and campus employees feel her presence is a protective one.  She’s often referred to as Aunt Alice and is known to soothe and comfort the inhabitants in her namesake dorm and home. Alice watches over the entire campus and her special tree. She loved this place so much she never wanted to leave and so her spirit remains on campus today.
