On June 22, the new museum was unveiled at the Truck Yard in The Colony. A ribbon cutting was followed with a birthday cake to celebrate Smith’s 98th birthday. A large contingent of his family and friends came with him to the event. While they were sad to see the museum leave their Alamo Heights neighborhood, Smith said he was happy to see it stay in Texas. The highlight of the event was viewing the almost-overwhelming display of Smith’s decorated toilet seat lids. From its former cramped location in Smith’s garage, it appears the unique museum has finally found its perfect home. The new Truck Yard will open in July at 5959 Grove Lane, The Colony Texas.
