Bend, Texas – The Nature Lover’s Paradise

Hot springs gurgled close to Bend and became a hotspot for those seeking its medicinal healing waters. The springs fell into disuse, however, as those traveling found the hot springs in the town of Lampasas more convenient to the ones out in the tangled wilderness. The land bought by a rancher in the 1940s reopened to the public in 1961.
Today Sulphur Springs hosts campers, fisherman, hot springs seekers and plain all-around nature lovers. Cabins sleeping from 6-15 are available for as little as $69 per night for the two bedroom. With air conditioning, kitchen utensils and linens provided, this is easy camping. RV hookups and tent camping are also available for $6 per day, and day usage passes for $5.
During February, March and April the sand bass (or white bass) migrate from Lake Buchanan for spawning. The waters of Sulphur Springs are a fisherman’s dream during this time as the fish make their way upstream. Fishing is the main attraction year round at Sulpher Springs with various types of fish abundant in its waters. Canoeing, hiking, bird watching, wild life photography and swimming in the spring fed pool are a few of the activities perfect for a family or romantic getaway.
