Texas pride is an amazing thing. It should practically have its own zip code, it’s so big! And it’s not limited to where you live in the Lone Star State—it also extends to things we do and the products we make. Well, thanks to Chevrolet, our company’s owner and his family were invited to take an amazing “Made In Texas” road trip experience to visit some exclusive brands that are made right here in the Lone Star State! DFW set the stage for an amazing program of behind-the-scenes tours including one of the last baseball glove factories in the U.S., dinner at Southfork Ranch (the setting for the “Dallas” television show,) and a visit to the Stetson/Resistol Hat Factory!

Made in Texas: A Chevrolet Exclusive Road Trip Experience

On Thursday, May 9, 2019, Mitch and Meg Moorhead drove to The Highland Hotel in Dallas in a 2020 Suburban, including 4G LTE Wi-Fi, with available phone-sync technology, Apple CarPlay (or available Android Auto), and OnStar tech. In such an incredible ride, this road trip was guaranteed to be a fun experience. After registering for their stay, the pair drove out to visit the Nokona Baseball Glove Factory. The small town of Nocona is named for Comanche Chief Peta Nocona. The baseball glove company wasn’t legally able to use the town’s spelling, so from its outset, the “c” was changed to a “k.” It’s a family business which was started by Bob Storey, originally setting out to make quality leather goods, then expanding to include the making of baseball gloves following the Great Depression. Since then, practically all the U.S. competition has relocated their baseball glove production elsewhere. In true Texan style, the story goes that Storey (who passed away in 1980) said he’d rather quit and go fishing before he’d ever import Nokonas. And the rest is history!
