Those of you who have studied baby booms will understand this next concept. It’s recently been revealed that the popularity of sports wins is in direct correlation with birth rates. Subsequently, we’re interested in seeing what the effect on the population of Texas has been as a result of the Houston Astros historic World Series win. Now, close to nine months following the epic high that Astros fans experienced on behalf of their team, the city of Houston is seeing an uptick in the number of babies being born, as witnessed in a recent report on a Texas hospital having assisted in 48 births in a 41-hour window!

To celebrate this boom and to share in the joy of new Texans making their way into this world, on Thursday, July 26, Chevrolet hosted a family-friendly celebration at Discovery Green in Houston. To honor the new and expecting parents, the event featured fun family activities, typical food “cravings” (i.e., ice cream and pickles), and the opportunity to learn from safety experts on how to keep their family (and newborn) safe during the summer. Car seat installation demos, heat stroke information, and the sharing of summer road safety tips for new parents were all highlights of the event.

A recent survey, which was commissioned by Chevy, determined that close to 34 percent of Houstonians want to know more about proper car seat installation. Chevy invited Astros fans and Houston families to come out in their favorite Astros gear to learn more, share their experiences, and enjoy these types of demonstrations together. Plus, guests of the event enjoyed all of these activities while preparing for the next generation of Astros fans to come up in the ranks!
