As the possibility of a white Christmas and a chilly winter season make their way into our forecasts, the likelihood that one can continue to wear their sandals in Texas much longer is getting slim-to-none. And, yet people are still trying to find ways.

One of the strangest trends that we saw in the sandal department was the cowboy-boot conversion. You’ve quite possibly seen such images streak across your social media pages as your friends think it’s either unique or funny to share such paradigm shifts in fashion. But, is it practical? Is it, in fact, even being used? Or, perhaps, there’s simply a young, social-media-minded meme-creator out there that thought it was a good opportunity to poke fun at us western workhorses. You be the judge.

Next, although equally hard to believe, the concept of wearing socks that are specially designed to allow for maximum comfort in maintaining sandals as footwear through the winter months has become a fashion statement in Texas that, well…we just can’t even. Flip-flop socks are an actual thing. And Fox 7 news recently reported on this. They’re even flying off the shelves of an online Etsy shop! There are mitten-like versions, the majority of which are designed to keep a good foot-hold (pun intended) in your sandals while you’re walking around Texas in the winter time. What are your thoughts? Have we completely lost our minds, or are we Texas-sized footwear trendsetters?!
