While trying to toss rings onto the tops of bottles or attempting to land a ball in a basket at a carnival or theme park the thought inevitably crosses everyone’s mind, “Is this a scam? This seems impossible!” Popular YouTuber Mark Rober decided to conduct some research of his own to see how difficult it truly is to win popular carnival games.

Rober uses his analytical mind and creative engineering background to explain the physics of carnival games and give viewers an idea of which they should be playing if they really want to take a stuffed animal home. (Though, as Rober explains, the stuffed animals aren’t all they’re cracked up to be either.)

“If you want the feeling of winning a game, do not stop at any booth that offers really big prizes,” he explains. The probability of winning a giant stuffed bear is incredibly slim, and there are other games to spend your money on that will actually give you the thrill of a small, but fun, win.

You might remember Rober from his custom car horn video where he invented a system to alert fellow drivers with varying degrees of niceness. Similar to that, the “Carnival Scam Science- and how to win” video has already reached over 6.8 million views!
