Everyone is finding little ways to support their favorite businesses, but one Texan helped in a big way. A regular at Houston’s Irma’s Southwest paid for their bill, then added a tip of $9,400 in response to the nationwide impact of COVID-19. The receipt included a handwritten note, specifying that the additional amount was to tide over restaurant staff in the upcoming weeks. Management plans to evenly split the generous gift amongst all the staff, working out to roughly $300 for each employee.

Irma’s Southwest is a local favorite and has deep roots in the area, beginning in 1998 as a second location to the original, which opened in 1988. For over twenty years, appetizing Mexican food and Texas Hill Country treats have graced the menu. The lavish tip was left after the county had announced on Monday the mandatory shutdown of bars and nightclubs.
