Here in Texas, we have a fascination and a passion for a couple of things (…well, not just a couple, but you’ll understand). We love our beef. And we love Dr Pepper. Combining them didn’t really seem like much of an option when it comes to cooking, unless you’re adding a touch of that sweet soda creation out of Waco as a braising sauce on the barbecue, perhaps. But Keyingredient.com found a way to have your beef and eat it too… so to speak. They posted a recipe for Dr Pepper Jalapeno Beef Jerky, and we’re gearing up to make it this weekend!
This delicious recipe can be made in either a smoker (if you’re an avid jerky maker), or an oven. Dr Pepper Jalapeno Beef Jerky is not only a tasty treat but can also satisfy your hunger. First, you’ll want to incorporate all of the ingredients for the meat’s marinade in a medium saucepan. Bring it to a boil and then reduce the heat, allowing it to simmer for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The marinade mixture should look like it has reduced by half, allowing for one full cup for use with your beef. You’ll want to chill this marinade completely, so allow for the time necessary to ensure that’s the case. And for the marinade process, you’ll want to place your sliced beef into a resealable bag, approximately one gallon in size. Pour in your marinade, massaging it into the beef, seal the bag, and place it in the fridge for 8 – 12 hours, or even overnight. The next day, you’ll be able to prep your cooking implements and get ready for some mouthwatering Dr Pepper Jalapeno Beef Jerky in no time!
