Springtime in the Texas Hill Country, what could be more perfect? There are more than 20 state parks to visit, fish, picnic in, or camp. These lovely parks are also perfect for bird watching and hiking.
The Texas wildflowers are in full bloom, and the array of colors makes it one of the most spectacular sights on the planet, and one which should never be missed. Nearly everywhere you look visions of colorful foliage are plentiful.
One of the most popular and beautiful scenic routes is the one through Willow City, Texas.
It’s a spectacular 13-mile scenic drive filled with rolling hills, blossoming meadows, charming creeks, deep green valleys, and sparkling streams. There’s no doubt you’ll see some amazing wildlife, along with private properties with roaming cattle and horses. Throughout the lovely hills, valleys, and meadows are fields of bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, salvia, and so many other flowers that make spring in the Hill Country truly an amazing sight. Don’t forget those cameras.
Summer

Like the old George Gershwin tune says, “Summertime and the livin’ is easy” The Texas Hill Country is the perfect spot to go and simply relax and get away from it all. Floating down the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels in a big black tube is probably the most popular summer activity here in this part of the state. Rent a tube (or “toob” as some call it) and hop in.
Another option would be to go to one of the best water parks ever created. Schlitterbahn (German for slippery highway) is by far the best place for the entire family, young or old. There are some amazing German eateries around town that you just gotta try, also.
A once in a lifetime experience would be going to downtown Austin to watch the Mexican free-tailed bats soaring through the sky after spending the entire day underneath a bridge. It is an extraordinary sight that can actually take your breath away. Don’t forget about the Riverwalk in San Antonio, where you’ll find some of the best food and music around.
The Texas Hill Country is much cooler than other parts of the lone star state, so that’s a plus any way you look at it.
