With the start of fall officially in the books in Texas, it’s time for hoodies, moderate temperatures (hopefully), and all things pumpkin spice! Although the fall-time experience may not be the same across the Lone Star State, and we don’t always get to enjoy the changing of the leaves like they do in other parts of the U.S., that doesn’t mean we can’t get out to celebrate the season. Here’s a short list of some of the best fall family fun activities in Texas!

1. Go to a Football Game

Yes, football is like a religion here in Texas, and the fall season is synonymous with grabbing your friends and family, perhaps getting some tailgating food and drinks together, and heading out to watch your local or national team play on the gridiron. Get your team jersey and clear your voice box for some shouts and cheers on plays to get pumped up about!

2. Make Wurstfest Plans

From November 1 -10, 2019, Wurstfest is happening in New Braunfels, in the Texas Hill Country. If you’ve ever thought about fall family fun, this event most definitely comes to mind! Texas-German culture is something you have to experience at least once in your lifetime. This event brings it right to your backdoor. With great food, live music, dancing, and so much more, there’s truly something for everyone to get in on!

3. Take a Trip to South Texas Maize

Situated in Hondo, South Texas Maize features not only a fantastic 7-acre corn maze in which to let your kids roam free, but it also boasts jumping pillows they call corn poppers, hayrides, trains for children to tour the ranch, and the MatterCorn Slide Mountain! They also have Cowboy Ken’s Kiddie Korral and a hay bale jump! The fall family fun doesn’t end there. This property also has special events you’ll want to visit before they close up for the season at the end of November.
