Throughout 2020, organizations figured out how to move their events online and out in the open. Happenings that would have normally filled a room are often found now through computer screens. One group which has done a fantastic job of keeping the public engaged is the Boerne Public Library. Each month, they host exciting and interesting things for people of all ages to not only view and hear but also participate in. Here are two examples of February fun in Boerne.

On Friday, February 12th, for thirty minutes beginning at 6 p.m., experience a one-of-a-kind musical thrill: DJ Drive-Thru! From the responsible distance and warmth of your own vehicle, help the library continue celebrating Black History Month through the beats of African music. Led by the dynamic DJ Bomani (Terrence Harper), this innovative DJ Drive-Thru will deliver rhythms as drivers cruise past the building’s front door and park in the lot. Sweet treats are included with this fun time: enjoy delicious peach cobbler from Smoke-in-the-Hills! Call all your fellow music lovers and form a groovy caravan. It’s the perfect choice for February fun in the Texas Hill Country.

The next event is home-oriented and will be held on Tuesday, February 16th. Beginning at 10 a.m. and running until 11:30 a.m., this free Zoom class is open to all and teaches the fine art of crafting two Mardi Gras favorites: classic muffulettas and iconic beignets! This perfectly-timed Fat Tuesday activity will surely assist those who are missing the green, purple, and gold parties, beads, and parades. The class will be led by Chef Cindy. Catch the spirit of the Cajun French saying “Laissez les bon temps rouler” (Let the good times roll). Throw in some King Cake, lively jazz, and hang some pearls from stilled ceiling fan blades and your “Krewe” will be right as rain to start Lent the traditional way!
