Head over to Marktplatz in the heart of Fredericksburg for the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance Concert Series. This is the group which brings Oktoberfest each year and provides scholarships for students in the arts. This 6:30 to 8 p.m. event featured a Western Swing orchestra headed by Jason Roberts, the September 10th event features the Czechaholics. There is no admission charge and there is room for lots of dancers. Bring a folding chair or claim a picnic table in the pavilion.

If you still have some energy left, go to Cross Mountain City park at the north city limits on FM 965 (the road to Enchanted Rock). The summit is 110 feet above the parking lot and there is a trail built a few years ago by local Master Naturalists. You will find a wonderful view of both the city and the sunset, and there is no admission charge. Watch your step as the trail surface can be uneven.

There you have it: a full Sunday afternoon in Fredericksburg for $20. For more information on events in Fredericksburg, check the Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau website.
