Texas ‘Gator Girl’ Responds to an Emergency Alligator Removal Call and Finds Something Unexpected
The Gator Squad is usually called out to assist Houstonians with trapping rogue alligators who have wandered onto people’s property. Christy Kroboth, known as “Gator Girl” for her alligator-taming skills, was prepared to wrangle a gator when she was called out to a neighborhood in Richmond. The frantic homeowners said a gator was looming at their door, but when Kroboth arrived, the callers said the alligator was up at the top of the door. Confused, Kroboth looked up, and saw that the source of their fear was a common lizard.
“I have no idea what they were thinking when they called,” she said laughingly to KHOU. She retrieved the lizard and held it up, trying to provide a teachable moment for the callers who were huddled in fear. She said they wanted nothing to do with the creature that they still thought was an alligator.
Kroboth snapped a picture of the “vicious” lizard with a piece of pink tape lightly placed on its head like she uses to tape the mouth’s of actual alligators shut, and posted it to Facebook. Then, she let the little guy go in a neighbor’s yard. Chron.com says that the neighbors overheard the same people freaking out about a garden snake a week ago.
