When bronchitis or a cold has you coughing your head off don’t purchase over the counter medicines. Two teaspoons of a honey/lemon mixture are as effective as any cough suppressant you can buy because it coats and soothes nerve endings that make you cough. Heat a cup of raw, unprocessed honey until it is hot, not boiling. Squeeze the juice of a fresh lemon into a small saucepan and bring to a boil to kill any bacteria. Then, mix them together, place in a container and let cool before putting into the refrigerator. The dosage is a tablespoon about every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Small children need only half that amount. This mixture will keep for two or three months.

Did you know it even helps you sleep?  Taken at bedtime, through a normal body process, it converts into melatonin, which is a natural sleep aid we all need and use.

Honey can help fight cancer. It is bad for cancer cells and will help prevent metastasizing. Johns Hopkins published a report on honey and cancer saying that “AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY (TRY IS THE KEY WORD) AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHN HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY.”

Honey contains a natural peroxide which helps make it a natural disinfectant and antibiotic. It was used for centuries, quite effectively, before penicillin was invented. How many of you are allergic to penicillin? The most recommended kind for treating wounds and burns on the skin is called Manuka. It has special ingredients making it much more effective in its antibiotic qualities. Manuka is being used for treating herpes outbreaks and is fast becoming a super treatment for shingles outbreaks. Just apply it over the lesions three or four times a day. It provides pain relief and faster healing. There are numerous skin care products made from Manuka honey.
