We all love to hit a Texas beach. Just ahead of warm weather, USA Today recently released their 2018 Readers’ Choice 10 Best Beaches in Texas ranking, and it’s getting us fired up to visit the coastline.
Using reader votes to determine the rankings of a list that was originally compiled by their editors, USA Today relied on local knowledge to ensure relevance and assembled what looks like a dream road trip. This Texas coastline journey stretches from places like South Padre Island to Corpus Christi, to Galveston and the like.

The number-one-ranked beach in all of the 600 miles of Texas coastline was Rockport Beach. In previous reviews by the Texas Media Group, Rockport Beach has been a highlight of the top five for its clean and calm locale. The beach is decorated by tiki-style umbrellas, parking is free of charge, and there’s the option to purchase an annual pass for a very reasonable rate. Downtown Rockport also adds to the beach-going experience with eclectic shops, art galleries, and boho-chic merchandise. There’s also tours of Fulton Mansion State Historic Site (constructed in the 1870s), for those that don’t want to spend the entire day at the beach. Don’t miss Rockport Harbor, which features a 1,500-foot lighted jetty pier for a beautiful spring or summer stroll.
