Last week, trained skydiver and stuntman, Luke Aikins fell through the air without a parachute from 25,000 feet above ground and survived.

Aikins jumped from a plane along with two other divers who joined him at the beginning of the descent. But after they pulled on their parachute cords, Aikins kept falling to earth at 150 miles per hour. Right before reaching the ground, he flipped on to his back to land in a 100′ x 100′ flexible and flowing net.

The stunt was dreamt up two years by a friend of his, but at the time he turned it down, citing his wife and son as reasons not to tempt fate. At 42-years-old, he decided to chase the dream. RT reports that, “The daring stunt is now in the history books as the first complete jump without a parachute.”

In the video, he seems to fall for almost a ridiculous amount of time. He was so high up, he required an oxygen mask that his fellow skydivers removed on the way down! Can you imagine all of the thoughts that must have passed through his mind?

Concerning the jump, Aikins said, “If I wasn’t nervous, I would be stupid.” He does look very relieved once it was over.
