Let the Good Times Roll at Mardi Gras, Goldthwaite-Style

Those with general admission tickets (who are not part of a krewe) can still vote in the contest and perhaps establish a high-water mark for future such competitions. While attending, guests will be entertained by the musical stylings of the Mark Scott Band, performing live from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and this event is B.Y.O.B. That’s “booze,” not “beads,” since there will be plenty of those to go around! So get your cooler all set and prepare yourself for a night of fun. As is usually the case with Mardi-Gras-themed functions, you can anticipate some great games and raffles. For those of you looking for fun with a community focus, yet still wishing to experience all the excitement that comes with the party-like atmosphere of Mardi Gras, a visit to the Texas Botanical Gardens and Native American Interpretive Center is truly in order.

The TBGNAIC Welcome Center serves not only as a gathering place for community members at events such as this, but also a travelers’ rest area in Goldthwaite. It’s recognized as “the gateway to the Texas Botanical Gardens,” with a roof designed specifically for rainwater capture in a striking butterfly-esque look. The Native American Interpretive Center at the Texas Botanical Gardens (also known as Legacy Plaza) features components of the lifestyle maintained by those who called Texas their home anywhere from 600 to 10,000 years ago. Evidence of their existence in the Texas Hill Country can still be found today. The Center showcases and celebrates their history together with their use of local resources and plant species.
