This October 4 is the day we’ve all been waiting for – National Taco Day! This is the day on which we wait for the Great Taco to rise up out of the taco patch…’er wait. It’s the day that all the toys being made by little tacos throughout the year get delivered to… maybe not. What does National Taco Day truly mean? It’s the day on which restaurants throughout Texas and across the U.S. will be giving deals on either free tacos or bargain-basement prices on some high-end (yummy) goods.

Unlike many other “national” days (and there are many…) the deals and freebies generated through National Taco Day provide us with a warm-all-over feeling. And that’s not just the hot sauce talking. Many of us crave tacos inexplicably. Some of us (not yours truly, that would be silly) have even tried the “taco cleanse.” So, where in Texas can you grab some good deals and fill your Mexican food-loving-void? If I have to preface it by saying “Now, don’t laugh,” it almost defeats the purpose, but the truth is Taco Bell is sporting some sweet deals on October 4 that you’re going to want to get in on. They’re offering customers the chance to give someone “the magical gift of tacos.” Going straight for the heartstrings, this fast-food chain has put together a special “gift set” of four tacos for only $5. It includes their Cool Ranch, Fiery, Crunchy Taco, and Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos.

Baja Fresh is also offering their food fans the chance to sign up for their email list and receive a free taco with any purchase, including choices of the Carnitas or Chicken Baja, and the Americano. Moe’s Southwest Grill is getting in on the action with a buy-two-get-one-free taco option for their loyalty members. On National Taco Day, download the Moe’s app and follow through – it lasts until October 7! Throughout Texas, there’s bound to be some local hot spots with which we’re not yet familiar that probably make some of the best tacos out there! If you know of them, don’t be afraid to share the details with your foodie friends, because we all love a deal, and we most definitely love tacos. Across the U.S. in 2017, consumers ate more than 4.5 billion tacos! Is it any wonder? There are so many variations that this wonderful hand-held meal-in-a-minute can be, it’s like the quick-change artist of the Mexican food variety. With all this eating, you’re bound to get a little parched. So, if you’re really looking to celebrate, you can pair your taco with a signature Russian drink and have a spirited National Vodka Day at the same time! Cheers!
