If you think beer and bratwurst when you hear Oktoberfest, then you won’t be disappointed by Lago Vista’s version. Hosted by St. Mary Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on the parish grounds this Saturday, the annual event has something for everyone – even those who don’t drink beer or eat bratwurst.

Be sure to head to the parish activity center when Oktoberfest begins at 10 a.m. to get the best gifts in the country store, the tastiest baked goods, and the best frozen casseroles. (But your casseroles early because they sell out fast. They will hold onto the casseroles for you until you are ready to leave.)

While you’re there, take time to peruse the silent auction items, but don’t forget to come back and place your bid before 2 p.m. when the auction closes and winners are announced.

Tables set up in the breezeway between the church and the parish activity center will be offering Flat Creek Winery raffle tickets, as well as Oktoberfest raffle tickets offering 5 chances to win up to $4,000 in retailer gift card(s) of your choice.

All raffle ticket winners will be chosen at 3 p.m. – the last event of Oktoberfest. You don’t need to be present to win, though.

While you’re in the breezeway, have a friend snap a photo of you posing in the Frau or Herr photo board.

Longhorn fans don’t need to miss the fun. The University of Texas versus Oklahoma University game will be televised in the food tent, where hamburgers, hotdogs, turkey legs, and giant pretzels join bratwurst on the menu.

Austin’s own Live Oak Brewery is donating one of its best brews, but there will also be other beer, soft drinks, and water available throughout the day.
