The Legend of the Origin of the Texas Bluebonnet
The next morning when the tribe awoke, the once barren landscape was covered with lush blankets of green and blue. It was clear the Great Spirit had forgiven them. The little girl told her parents what she had done, fearful she would be scolded for sneaking out. The tribe decided to rename her, “One-Who-Dearly-Loves-Her-People”.
And so began the yearly rite of Spring we call “Texas Bluebonnets.”
