Roger Creager is a Texas artist you want to keep an eye on. Not because he’s carrying the cross of the industry on his back, and he’s been made out to be the sole individual on whose shoulders it’s hinged, but because he’s never standing still. His energy for life comes out in his music. Although, the former part of the statement might have a tinge of truth to it (he’s extremely talented and continues to contribute to country music in a way many others can only aspire to), he’s constantly at work on projects that take an enormous amount of energy. Where does he find time for it all?

The Dallas Observer wrote about Creager and his choice of lifestyle activities by saying, “Texas country star Roger Creager’s website bio reads like a glossy men’s lifestyle magazine profile, and not only is it all true, it’s lacking what is perhaps the veteran musician’s wildest factual bullet point.” What that refers to it the fact that he participated in the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, this year for the fourth time! His own website About page begins, “Whether it’s climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, jumping off his boat to snorkel with wild dolphins, snow skiing in the Rockies, catching tuna 100 miles from shore, piloting his airplane to far-off concerts, spear-fishing around oil rigs, scuba diving coral reefs, surfing in Costa Rica, or playing music through the Italian countryside, he tries to get the most of what life has to offer.”

In addition, the artist launched the inaugural “Roger Creager Coastal Bender” fishing tournament in Corpus Christi at the end of July. It featured a boat expo as well as a concert with the likes of such country counterparts as David Lee Murphy, Jack Ingram, and Chris Colston. There’s no moss growing on Creager, and there never has been. Corpus Christi is his hometown, and the life he’s pursued since growing up there seems like it comes from a movie script!

As far as his music contributions go, he has seven albums to date, and his most recent work can be heard on the new release by Kevin Fowler, entitled “Barstool Stories.” Singing with Cody Johnson and Kevin Fowler, Creager leant his vocal efforts to the tune called “A Drinkin’ Song,” which was actually co-written by Chris Stapleton and Kendell Marvel. What’s up next for this adrenalin-chasing, songster from the Lone Star State? He has a tour schedule which is packed through September to December, with shows in Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, and Nevada. And he’s headlining at the upcoming Steamboat Music Fest in January. With respect to his lifestyle, one can only venture a guess. Will it be rock climbing, bungee jumping, or parasailing? He hasn’t failed to surprise us yet!
