Those looking forward to visiting a Six Flags park this spring or summer will need to know the appropriate health and safety protocols they have put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, and other Six Flags amusement parks have announced that they are taking steps to improve health safety, one of which is requiring that guests wear facial masks/coverings. They are also asking that visitors schedule their arrival times.

The requirement for a face mask and the request that arrivals be scheduled are just examples of a variety of new developments that have arisen from Six Flags working to keep visitors as well as employees safe and healthy over the course of the pandemic. In an article published by NBCDFW, it was stated that parks made their announcement on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, and will commence with an online reservation system for the purpose of advance scheduling and managing attendance. The system will ensure that guest arrivals by day and by hour can be tracked and managed effectively in efforts to minimize the likelihood of exposure to COVID-19 via proximity.

Once a visit is scheduled, the Six Flags park guests will be contacted electronically one day in advance of their visit in order to confirm their arrival time. At that time, they will also be asked  to confirm that they are still healthy. An added measure for the 2020 season is that park capacity has been lowered, allowing for appropriate social distancing.

The reopening measures that the state of Texas is in the process of implementing following the COVID-19 pandemic have allowed for places of social amusement to begin to plan for their 2020 season. Bars and sports venues were given the green light for reopening this past week. Similarly, places of retail have started to change their operating and sales protocols to recognize social distancing and determine what is best for the health of their patrons. Consumers will start to see revised policies being implemented throughout the course of the reopening process.
