Kingburger Drive In is also quite the popular hotspot to visit and has been operational since 1954. Its main focus appears to be comfort food with chicken-fried steak and enchiladas being its top sellers. Clearly, the town knows and loves variety, and your choices in great dining options won’t be limited.

Things to Do in Rocksprings

Devil’s Sinkhole

Rocksprings has plenty to offer the avid hunter (making deer season practically a recognized holiday in town) who drive and fly in from all over the state to get the opportunity to bag a buck. If you’re more a lover of simply being in nature, Devil’s Sinkhole State Natural Area and Kickapoo Cavern State Park are in close proximity, including opportunities to witness bat colonies, go hiking, and try your hand at spelunking on a guided tour. Those in the industry or those that are simply buyers of quality product will also come to Rocksprings to visit the Priour-Varga Wool & Mohair Warehouse or the American Angora Goat Breeders Association, where historic photographs of the industry in the area are on display. And still more people will come to the town for stargazing opportunities, as the Bortle Scale (rating how clearly objects in the night sky can be seen) ranks the two nearby state parks at the top in terms of such activities, and a clear night can draw many an enthusiast.

About the Photographer:
Photographer and travel writer Eric W. Pohl has always been drawn to the rich heritage and natural beauty of rural Texas, particularly the Hill Country region. His quest to explore the backroads of Texas takes him everywhere from sweeping hilltop vistas and tranquil canyons to historic small-town dance halls and smoky mom-and-pop barbecue joints. Eric lives in Dripping Springs with his wife and son.
