Strait Announces Hurricane Harvey Benefit With All-Star Lineup

Joining George Strait and the Ace in the Hole Band for a Hurricane Harvey benefit event on September 12, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Robert Earl Keen, and Lyle Lovett are the most recent performers to be announced for the show which is taking place at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, here in the Texas Hill Country.

Key performances from Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief will air on CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox, and CMT as part of a telethon organized by Scooter Braun and Houston, Texas rapper Bun B. The telethon will also feature Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey, Barbra Streisand, and George Clooney, among others. With the original broadcast date set for live air on September 12 (8 p.m. EDT, but please check your local listings), and replaying later that night (8 p.m. PDT), both the broadcast, as well as Strait’s Hand in Hand show, will air via Facebook, reaching an international audience.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Strait reached out via social media, identifying that industry representatives were working on putting together relief efforts. Following that, on Tuesday, September 5, he announced via Facebook post, “In an effort to raise funds, spirits, and help rebuild Texas in the wake of Harvey’s devastation, we’ll be playing a special benefit show at The Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, TX on September 12 with Miranda LambertChris StapletonRobert Earl Keen, and Lyle Lovett as part of the Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief fundraiser. Tickets for the show will be on sale tomorrow, September 6, at 10AM CST. All proceeds will go to those affected by the storm.http://bit.ly/2eDiJ27.”

Tickets for the Hand in Hand concert featuring Strait and his special guests go on sale today (September 6, 2017) at 10 a.m. CDT, and you can purchase yours at the link provided here. Proceeds from his one-hour event will benefit Rebuild Texas, United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Feeding Texas, Save the Children, Direct Relief, and The Mayor’s Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief. A rare event, but one not out of Strait’s character whatsoever, this September 12 concert represents the years of Texas love and philanthropy he has shared with the rest of the nation, and now the world. Following his touring retirement in 2014, the King of Country Music began a Las Vegas residency at the T-Mobile Arena in April 2016 for which his next show dates are December 8 and 9, 2017.
