Perhaps your social media feed has been flooded this summer with images of kids off to camp. There’s a good chance that if you live anywhere within driving distance to the Texas Hill Country, many of the eager (and possibly nervous) children going off to camp are going to T Bar M camp, located in New Braunfels and Lake Travis. What is T Bar M and what makes it so special?

T Bar M was started in 1981 as a way to connect people more deeply to the love of God, through good old-fashioned play in the midst of the beauty of His creation. Now, 36 summers later and countless young lives touched, T Bar M is among the most popular summer camps in the state.

A Focus on Jesus

While the focus at T Bar M is on Jesus Christ, the camp is non-denominational and welcomes families from all faiths with open arms. Employing more than 270 summer staffers, the camp serves youth from kindergarteners through high schoolers. T Bar M offers day camp, overnight-camps, family camps and even corporate retreats. Despite its size and popularity, T Bar M continues to serve the needs of children and adults with personalized care year after year.

T Bar M also has a property located at Lake Travis, aptly called Camp Travis. Offering overnight camp for kids middle school through high school, the focus is on the wild theme nights as well as the power of fun. Sports Camp allows campers a chance to choose one sport to focus all of their attention and energy on for a week at a time. With professional coaches standing by to help, campers are immersed in their favorite sport with lots of fun and shenanigans to look forward to as well.

While kids look forward to their summers spent at T Bar M all year long, adults enjoy it just as much (if not more). Featuring multiple swimming pools, a hot tub, putting green and an indoor sports gym, T Bar M is a wonderful option for a hosting a get-together among friends, family or co-workers.

Former Campers Turned Coaches

The thing that is impressive to parents and campers alike is that most coaches and counselors at T Bar M were once campers at T Bar M themselves. Noting the impact that the camp has on the kids is what keeps these high school and college-aged good citizens coming back year after year. Forming connections and being role models for youth is an important benefit of becoming a T Bar M counselor.

With an original, studio-recorded theme song for each year and a professional photographer on hand to capture hundreds of photos of the campers each day, parents feel just as involved in the excitement of camp as their children do. T Bar M is doing something right in the Texas Hill Country. Day Camp typically fills up well before the heat of the Texas summer even sets in and overnight camps are highly sought-after as well.  Scholarships are available to T Bar M, making this camp accessible to anyone who craves summertime fun, fellowship, and a stronger bond with God.
