Proceeds from purchases of Good To Go Pale Ale by Dallas-based Texas Ale Project are going to benefit a great cause. Honor Courage Commitment (HCC) is a North Texas nonprofit working toward veteran empowerment, and their partnership with Texas Ale Project actually began in a bar! Brent Thompson, co-owner and operator of the craft brewery, is also a U.S. Navy veteran. One of his employees who was familiar with the mission behind HCC introduced him to the concept.

Helping to provide guidance and resources to veterans looking to start or expand their own businesses, as well as those that are seeking employment with veteran-owned businesses, HCC works towards training initiatives, skills enhancement, and mentorship in the field. In an interview with NBC DFW, Urshel Metcalf, Director of Operations for HCC said, “The biggest message [for veterans] is what we say every day—live life on purpose. We want to connect people with their purpose and with their passion.” Of those that are transitioning from the Armed Forces to civilian life, Metcalf noted, “[Veterans] are already prepared. They already have the leadership and the skills. They just need a little bit of training, a little bit of mentorship to transition from a ‘mission accomplished’ mindset to a bottom line, profitability mindset.”

Kat Thompson, co-owner and CEO of Texas Ale Project identified, “It’s very personal for us.” Kat is married to Brent Thompson, and together, they felt the concept of partnering with Honor Courage Commitment was a wonderful opportunity to give back. “We want to support other veterans to become entrepreneurs to come back home and say, ‘I can do this. I can start my own business and help the economy here to grow just like I helped us in other countries when I was deployed,’” she said. Sold in major North Texas grocery chains including Whole Foods and Kroger, as well as liquor and beer stores such as Goody Goody and Spec’s, Good To Go Pale Ale cans can be found sporting a digital camouflage design. A great partnership, an excellent Texas-made product, and the good feeling of knowing your money went to support such a worthy cause…this purchase is a no-brainer!
