A Mimosa is a drink that’s traditionally comprised of one-part champagne mixed with one equal part chilled citrus juice, normally orange juice. But, lately the cocktail-concoctors in kitchens across America have been quietly coming up with unique fruity blends that bring together champagne with juices that we wouldn’t normally look to pair, and it’s making out breakfasts/brunches all the merrier for it! Those of you that don’t traditionally imbibe at that time of day, can also incorporate some of these drinks at your backyard barbecues this spring and summer, or outdoor bridal showers! Our hot Texas sun calls for a little thirst-quencher such as these, now and then, wouldn’t you agree?

With 31 new flavors to choose from, Country Living magazine recently came out with some recipes for Mimosa we should shy away from. From tangy to elegant, breezy to classic and contemporary, their ideas were refreshing to say the least. The Paloma Mimosa, in particular, lent a Texas-style touch to the drink, incorporating two classic cocktails and a blend of tequila in the mix that we’re sure you’ll appreciate!

Another great recommendation, specifically for the Texas Hill Country region, is the Peach Melba Mimosa. Combining that delicious, home-grown orchard fruit with raspberries and champagne (among other ingredients) would make a sensation sipping drink for a hot summer day! With 31 opportunities (including the traditional recipe itself) to make this wonderfully fruity, refreshing drink, the likelihood of stumbling across one that you like (or maybe just outright stumbling, if you’re not careful) is good! Happy concocting, sipping, and toasting to spring and summer in Texas!
