This Tire Park in Texas is Play Date Perfection for Your Kids

There’s long been talk about reducing waste, reusing things, and recycling. Tires are just one example. And, in Texas, we’re considerably proud of the big tires we put on our trucks, not to mention the equally huge monsters we have on our machinery. Well, one place has found a way to make the most of them—the most fun, that is. Jerry Matheson Park in Tomball, Texas, has a variety of play structures that are fashioned from tires. From swings to slides, and even some picnic tables, tires are incorporated to make for safe fun. It’s a tire park, and kids love it!

Covering 10 acres, the park makes tire play a great way for children at all ages and stages to have fun. There’s even a hammock-style feature made of this same rubber which allows them to stretch out and swing, relax, and just enjoy their time playing! The slides at Jerry Matheson Park are held together by tires, there’s a crawling tube made completely of tires, and a toddler area that amalgamates the same components in a safe space for their age group.

With all that space, there’s also plenty of spots for parents to seat themselves and keep an eye on Junior while he jumps around for structure to structure. The park is owned by the city of Tomball and was named for a late council member. There’s ample parking, with handicap spaces clearly marked. If your child doesn’t want to play around on the tire structures (but, who are we kidding…a playground with giant tires, swinging ropes, rock walls, zip lines, and more? What kid doesn’t want to play on that?!) there’s also a swimming pool, a baseball field, and tennis courts. Not only that, but as it has in prior operating years, the pool is absolutely free for everyone! Get on out to Jerry Matheson Park in Tomball, Texas, to make some new memories with your little ones.
