5 Hot Hill Country Summer Camps for Your Kids

Camp La Junta is an all-boys camp located in Hunt, Texas. The camp gives young men every tool they need to grow and mature and understand personal growth — in knowing they are successful and important individuals. This camp has over 200 acres under the shady cypress trees of the Guadalupe River and is for boys ages 7-14. The camp includes activities such as: horseback riding, rifle shooting, trap and skeet, fishing, sailing, and more.

4. Camp Champions (Marble Falls, Texas)

Let’s start with the “four R’s” that make Camp Champions special: Responsibility, Respect, Reasonable Risks, and Reaching out to Others. This is the Camp Champion way. This summer camp is for girls and boys ages 6-18, offering up 30 different activities: archery, water-skiing, horseback riding, sports, and wall climbing are among the few. Camp Champions also has a few traditions including: Trojan/Spartan games, cabin checks, flag raising, and torch lighting.

Another great all-girls camp is in Hunt, Texas. This Christian-based girl’s camp has been up and running since 1926! “Providing a unique environment for girls to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally,” Camp Waldemar provides an environment to make long-term friendships and memories to grow and flourish throughout the time the girls spend there. Some of the many activities available at Camp Waldemar are: fencing, golf, ceramics, journalism, and outdoor skills.
